Prof. Dominique Lamy
My work in cognitive psychology began with a reevaluation of the role of space in visual attention and of how space-based and object-based attention interact. My current research focuses on the determinants of attentional allocation and on the role conscious awareness in cognitive processing. Specifically, I attempt to delineate the relative contributions of stimulus-driven, goal-directed and implicit memory in the allocation of visual attention, how these factors interact with conscious awareness, and I how they operate on emotional stimuli and in anxious individuals. In a separate line of research, I attempt to evaluate the contribution of conscious awareness to cognitive processing, from low-level operations such as attentional orienting up to high-level processes, such as semantic processing and semantic integration.
