Dr. Yael Zaltz
Research work

I am a senior staff member and a researcher at the department of Communications Disorders at Tel Aviv University. I am also an audiologist and a speech therapist. In may lab I'm examining the behavioral and neural effects of auditory training in listeners with normal and impaired hearing abilities. Specifically, my research focuses on a) the neural mechanisms that underlie auditory perception and auditory learning using functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), b) the characteristics of auditory learning and their dependency on the training protocol, the task complexity and the perceptual and cognitive abilities of the participant, and c) the different acoustic and cognitive contributors for speech perception in quiet and amid noise, and their susceptibility to behavioral training.
