Research work

Our research focuses on unraveling the intricate mechanisms of brain compensation and resilience in neurological disorders. We investigate how neural networks adapt to preserve function despite neuronal loss or pathology, manifesting as altered activation patterns or recruitment of alternative networks. Our work emphasizes the importance of personalized identification of these processes to develop and optimize targeted interventions. Leveraging cutting-edge technology and computational analysis, we employ a multimodal approach combining motor-cognitive assessments with advanced neuroimaging and electrophysiological techniques (fMRI, EEG, intracranial-EEG, and TMS). Our studies encompass patients with neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, as well as patients with epilepsy. Our multidisciplinary team, comprising clinicians, computational scientists, engineers, and neuroscientists, collaborates to achieve comprehensive insights into brain health and function in the face of neurological challenges.
